DO NOT NOT GET THESE MOVERS

I am writing this a year later and still cannot get the lack of

professionalism this company does not have. They LIE to you , don't call when they are suppose to bring your belongings and have you waiting. They keep things and they break lots of things. This company is NOT a reputable company to hire. I wish I had of looked at ratings but did not think of this when moving 2 Provinces away. POOR POOR.

5 Stars is Not Enough!

ı was very hesıtant on hiring a company to move my stuff to Canada. I have a lot of extremely valuable paintings and sculptures. My husband had recently became ill and we decided to move closer to our kids. Right off the hop Mike was first to contact us and assured us that his team was highly skilled in professional packing services. He kept in touch all the way until a few days after the delivery which was nice. I felt like I was more than just a customer. The truck arrived a day before us so I had my daughter give them acces to the house. They were really friendly with the children & overall very accommodating.

Despicable Service.

This is a horrible company, do not use, ever.
Movers arrived with a truck that leaked oil and I was told that they would be parking on the driveway or moving service would not be provided. I was also told that any leaked oil would be my problem and I would need to arrange clean.
They would not walk the extra 10 feet to end or driveway and left without completing the job.

Reliable Van Lines subsequently refused to refund the charge to my credit card for job they refused to complete.
I then told in a patronizing manner that Reliable Van Lines uses subcontractors and they are not responsible for the actions of the actual moving company.

Ridiculous unprofessional and downright rude.

Official company response

This review is fabricated, after analysis of the move in discussion, following information has been pulled within our system. This client refused to let us pickup the shipment from the driveway and wanted us to park 100 feet from where there would have been additional charges and refused to pay the additional fees involved with a long carry charge. We do use partners across North America (the whole concept of a Van Line System), however we do not outsource our moves or subcontract the move. It was discussed with the client since they refused the pickup and we sent a truck from Edmonton, AB to Chestermere, AB the deposit would be void if they cancelled their move on the spot. This deposit does not cover the costs involved to send a truck between the two cities. We do appreciate the feedback however, as Canadian Reliable Van Lines, we find it very biased and fabricated.

Regards,

Canadian Reliable Van Lines.

Anna Reich.

I had contacted Mark and his team with a last minute move request, they made sure to tell me all the details for the move and secured my date for the earliest date available. They were very professional and had great customer service. Our move went very smooth. They delivered all our belongings as promised and charged the quoted price that was very reasonable. No hidden fees. No extra cost. No damage to our furniture. Would highly recommend them. Thanks again Mark and the Canadian Reliable Team !!

Move from montreal to London ON.

It's strange to find such a company in Canada. The employees are very clever at phishing and they talk gently at first and prepare people and then simply keep their promise after they take $ 200 from the customer and then do not answer their phone and shut it down to evade the customer. I booked an appointment with Mark last April and took a deposit of $ 200 then I called them and send emails many times with no response from thier side it's worst company a man could see in his life. I will sue them until I get my right.

Canadian Unreliable Van Lies.

Mark is a actor a very good ACTOR, he will showed his true face once he got your DEPOSIT.

Before we booked with him he was professional, responding properly to our concerns, calling and sending emails several time.
As soon he gets the deposit he started ignoring emails and calls.
I booked for May 30th, 1 day before the 3rd party called saying they can’t do it tomorrow MAYBE the next day. I called to complain that, Mark and the agent I spoke with was Extremely RUDE and ARROGANT, they finally pick up my stuff May 31st, the movers had NO EXPERIENCE about moving one of them show up with " sandals " he broke my dresser and offer me 20$
NONE OF MY FURNITURES HAS BEEN WRAPPED AND PADDED like the agreement said.

When we arrive at Gatineau, I start calling every day but no one in this company was able to give me a prompt answer about the delivery.
We finally sublet our lease and took a furnished place, because we had any idea when they’ll delivery our stuff.

The best of the best is when I call last week Mike told me my stuff is in storage in MONTREAL. Meaning, they pass all the way to my city and dropped it there.
They delivery 8 WEEKS, 2 MONTHS LATER, with a lot of DAMAGES and MISSED items. The quote of 750$ ending up being 1376$ + storage ( I paid)+ a new company a have to pay to delivery in my new address.

My move with Mark was a nightmare and cost me LOT OF MONEYS.
SUIT you until I get my RIGHT

AVOID THIS COMPANY ABSOLUTELY ❌.

Worst company - didn't showup, gave no warning.

I booked a move with Mark Kross, who was very nice and prompt with his reponses to me, until he got my deposit. Four days before the move, I contacted him to confirm the move, but got no response. The day before the move, I phoned him, but he referred me to the company's dispatcher, Michael Chavati. He was a real joy to deal with. He told me flatly that they can't come for the next two weeks. I explained that my lease was up, and the apartment was rented, so that I would be liable for substantial damages. He reiterated, very rudely, "Can't do it. It's not happening". I asked why then did he accept the contract, and deposit my down payment. He said that, at that time, he could do it, but other jobs came up. I told him that if I have to pay damages, I will hold him liable. His response: "See you in court, bro." They did not even have the courtesy to let me know that they weren't coming, to give me a few days' notice. Disgusting, dishonest people. The irony is that their company is called "Reliable".

Cheaters.

These people are very ridiculous and cheaters. They don't know how to respect the customers. They will tell one price before they load our furniture and later while delivering them they give completely a wrong notes, they cheat for money and they are very harsh, rude, and even they throw bad words. And mainly the staff are reckless. For your good sake please avoid them. Go with good reliable people instead of them. Even we loose some money get some respect and peace of mind, and its up to you..

The Worst Customer Service.

Where do I begin?
So the quote they gave me was for 2000 lbs and my move was only about 400lbs over and they doubled the price, even though that shouldn't have been the price based on their per pound cost. They also had said that packaging for furniture was include but got charged much more for packing it.
They told me my move would leave either Nov 4 or the 14th and I rushed packing to be able to get my stuff into the Nov 4 shipment as my mother had a flight back from NS to ON on Nov 23. From the 4th adding 7 to 10 days as they said, should have given my mom plenty of time to help me get settled. But they had "delays" and kept pushing back my shipment date. What day did my move arrive? Nov 23rd! During my wait time I called a few times to get updates about my move. One time I had the misfortune of speaking to "Steve". He was rude and condescending, saying that I got a good deal and should not be expecting so much (I.e. that the move would arrive within the time THEY SAID). He also said that I was just looking for a discount and would not be so upset if I got one but they "under no cicumstances" gove discounts. They broke one of my dresser drawers and a painting frame but won't get reimbursed due to the deductible they failed to include in their original quote. All in all terrible service on their part. The only positive I will say is that the gentleman who they hired to deliver my stuff were nice.

Local move within Brampton, ON

Terrible service, destroyed our furniture.

1) The movers came over 20 min late around 11:20AM on July 25th, 2019, took 10 min to look around and tried to bill us for their transportation time it took to get to our address saying this is company policy. I'm sorry but I have been around the business long enough to know that a move starts when the workers show up on the site ready to work, not for their drive to work! 2) The workers came tired, kept taking smoke breaks, and were wasting time at every opportunity they had. They said that they started at 6AM and that this was their second move as the reasons why they were so tired. Once again, this is not our problem, we are paying $140/hour for work, not to send us tired workers who don't have the energy to do the job! 3) The workers used strong packing tape by hand on almost everything including to close drawers and hold shelves together etc. I only use packing tape for boxes so I asked why they are using packing tape, they said it works great and is faster that way. 4) They packed the truck unprofessionally so that we couldn't fit our small two person row house contents in a single truck. They promised us that it would be faster just to come back for a quick 2nd trip to grab the lawn mover and a few other items than to try to squeeze them in one load. 5) The distance between the two houses is about a 10 min drive, 15 min max in traffic. They took almost an hour to get there. Now I understand that they have to stop to eat dinner between the locations but we are not paying them 45 min to eat lunch. When I used to work as a mover, I would pack sandwiches and eat them during the drive between the addresses not to waste any customer's time! At this point we got upset and made them aware of our frustrations. For their 45 min lunch and 20 min late arrival, they argued about their company policy to pay for transport time etc. but admitted some fault and agreed to deduct a half hour off the total bill (half of the time they wasted not working) 6) They quoted us just 3 hours for the unload (because we had my two friends helping now) until 8:30pm, we paid $1438.60 on top of our $200 deposit. 7) Around 7:00pm, they were barely moving and what look like purposely stalling. We offered them cold water all day and did our best to try to keep them motivated. They purposely stalled so that the last 40 min was just cleanup of their mats and truck, have a smoke etc. and they refused to go back for 2nd load as they had promised! 8) So on top of all the money we paid, we had to rent a small U-haul Truck to go back for the lawnmower etc. to finish the job this unreliable company could not do. 9) On top of the extremely poor moving experience, as we were unpacking our furniture and items over the days, we also noticed that the packing tape the movers used was not peeling off the furniture properly. The packing tape has done permanent damage to our very expensive armoir, shelves and desk etc.

Several emails with pics of the tape permanent damage to the furniture remain unanswered.

Long-distance move from Vancouver, BC to Gatineau, QC

If I could give 0, I would.

The subject says everything.

DON’T HIRE THEM!!

Last friday was our scheduled moving day and we got some surprises.

The company contracted by Reliable Van Lines didn’t comply with what with previously talked about.

We tried to call the head office several times but we never got an answer.

The third party company said they spoke to Reliable Van Lines… So, at that point we didn’t know if he was lying or they were avoiding our calls.

First of all, big lack of customer service; The guy from the third party company was rude, not polite for a second, not professional, didn’t know what he was doing, couldn’t give me any additional informations and more.

He wanted to charged us 200$ for our one set of stairs. A price that wasn’t discuss before.

We live in a small 3 story building that has large staircase to move around and from there it’s a short walk to our appartement.

He said he had to repack everything (backpacks, bed frame etc, who was already wrapped at its maximum). Like BACKPACKS REALLY? We even left extra blankets and wrapping plastic. We have pictures to prove our good packing and to be honest we believe he simply wanted to make extra money on

Our back and we are far from being happy.

After several conversation with him, asking him to give us an estimate and not providing any, we asked him to leave.

He spoked to us like we were stupid, like it was our fault. (This is just the beginning.)

When Reliable Van Lines and I spoke, it was never mentioned that they were hiring another moving company to do the job.

It was never mentioned there's going to be an extra fee for one set of stairs.

It was never mentioned a bed frame needed to be in a box? Funny enough I was told it was totally fine just being wrapped up with plastic wrapping. Anyway, we discuss on how we packed prior and they said it was find.

Well guess what everyone? It definitely wasn’t. (Keep reading, the story gets better and better.)

All of this wasn’t about money at all.

If the guy from the third party explained himself correctly, have been polite and gave us a good customer service, I wouldn’t be writing this at the moment.

But again, he didn’t deliver AT ALL.

After all this, we kept on calling the head company: Reliable Van Lines. We sent emails, no replies. We finally managed to contact Matthew (the sale’s guy), he said

To call back during the week to speak with Steve. So we did.

With Steve it was a for sure « No you’re not getting your money back . ». He got all work up and of course my partner was too. We were so frustrated with how everything went. We wanted our money back but Steve wouldn’t want to corporate. Him and my partner got into what I believe to be some reasonable arguments on our ends but still we were the bad guys. Steve hang up. I then called back. He was already really furious with the previous conversation (same on our end), but all I wanted is to explained exactly everything that happened on the suppose day of the move. While I was explaining, he put me on speaker phone, started on purpose another conversation with a colleague, talking badly about us for me to hear. I confronted him saying: « Hello, I’m trying to have a serious conversation with you? How disrespectful and unprofessional this is? » He said he did it on purpose. He had something to say to everything I was mentioning. Again, like it was our fault and the movers were angels. He then explained to me that they are not obligated to give us any information about the fact that were hiring other moving companies to do the job. He also said that they’re not reachable during long week-ends (Well, why are they making bookings then? Why their third party company said to us that they just previously talked to them? None sense right?). He then started to explain to me what a Stat Holiday is. Like I was born yesterday! Then, he was explaining how his company works by hiring third party companies. « I’m not stupid, I know what it means, I’m just saying it was never mentioned and written on our contract. » I said. Steve then responded: «  I’m not saying you’re stupid but you might have some psychological issues. ». At that point, having him saying all that and not wanting to corporate, even if we kept on trying, we knew he wouldn’t want to reimburse us at all. We then finish the conversation and FOR NOW, it’s the end of it. We know we aren’t exaggerating. We have many witnesses that can prove the whole stories. This fight is just the beginning. Please save your time and book somewhere else. It’s not worth the money.

Long-distance move from Ottawa, ON to Calgary, AB

Worst ever experience

I would have rated them minus 5 if I could. If you care about your healthy mental state, your furniture, your money avoid them at all costs. A move from Ottawa to Calgary in July 2020 - what to start with?...

1. They offer lower quotes compared to other companies to get you on hook. But rest assured they will charge you extra after "their" scale. In our case our stuff surprisingly added 1000 pounds compared to our 2 years ago move with the same things/furniture.

2. They never showed up in time, neither for pickup, nor for delivery. For delivery - they came the day after the time/day booked by themselves. For pick up - despite confirmed time by 5PM, no one showed up or bothered to call; all our calls to find out what was happening were going to voicemail. Imagine your state when you have a full house of personal staff, your move is booked for the next day and new renters are moving in the next day. Eventually they bothered to call at 10PM and showed up at midnight, thus breaking the night before the big move.

3. Many furniture items came in broken. Plus everything had a heavy cigarette smoke smell that took weeks to minimize. As per their instructions filed a claim for damaged items and guess what? Despite multiple followups by phone/emails we never got a reply from them re the claim (not speaking of any refund, but ANY reply).

That is if not to mention an absolutely poor customer service and unfriendly attitude when dealing with you. The company such as Canadian Reliable Vanlines should not even be on the market. Not believing a word from a few positive reviews here and doubting they're real.

As said 2 yrs before this move we had made another move, with a different company and that was a great experience (the company had mostly positive reviews on this website). So make a good research people and don't get fooled by their low quotes, as eventually you'll end up paying much more that the highest quotes given by other companies, plus broken furniture and lots of stress.

There were ups and downs but everything arrived

Arrived a day early for the pickup when something happened to the originally scheduled truck, but that's far better than not arriving at all. Gave me 2 hours notice and I was ready in 90 minutes.

When I received the invoice there was over 500 lbs extra from the scales and therefore $700+ on top of original estimate. I had weighed everything in advance to keep it under 1,000 lbs. A reweigh would have been a pain as I was already in Orlando the reweigh would be in Ontario. Then I was informed that there would be no 30 days free storage in Orlando as promised. Things were not looking good.

I got hold of Matthew who was very reasonable and we negotiated $400+ off the extra weight and I accepted early delivery.

Everything arrived in decent shape. Drivers at both ends were very pleasant.

Misrepresentation

The company is not loyal, they quoted me free packing of my stuff but added another $500 for final invoice which was not disclosed, Further I was offered to make payment at the the time of delivery but the accounting team starting asking for full payment from the next day of picking up my stuff. So the quote which I had for $2000 became for $5000 after the pick up. Tell me how can this be trusted?

Worst customer service experience.

When I booked with Canadian Reliable Vanlines I was told that our stuff would be picked up and sent to us within a span of 5-10 business days and than on the pick up date I confirmed with the movers that it would arrive in 5-10 days. On the day before it was supposed to arrive I called to confirm that it was arriving the next day. This is when I was told that it would be another week because it was 5-10 business days from date of DEPARTURE not PICK-UP. I was never told this when I went with them, and I definitely did not receive an email or phone call saying that it had departed. To top it all off the salesmen that I was talking to to try and sort this HUGE miscommunication out was nothing but rude, unhelpful and unprofessional who ended hanging up on me.

Please do yourself a favour and go with another moving company but them. They are frauds and liars and will say whatever the can to make a deal.

By far the worst customer service I have ever received.

Good service & resonable price.

I hired these guys for my moms move to Florida back in September. Because the property was still in the building process we had to store her stuff. Daniel and Greg were really skilled at what they do. They managed to have a 75 year old woman (which you could imagine what she’s collected through the years.) packed up and loaded within the same day. We got our goods a few weeks ago and are overall satisfied with the service we got. Im usually not one for making reviews but when Mark asked me to upload a review on how they did I didn't hesitate. Completely Screwed up.

MARK was given multiple pictures of the pickup of a single item, its description. The location of the description as well as any other pertinent details to avoid any mistakes as well as to properly quote. Although his quote was NOT the cheapest I mistakenly went with his as he confirmed many many times that this would not be a problem.. The pickup was a disaster and the shippers came back empty handed and left myself and the shipping location empty handed and wasted ALL of our time. I am now being blamed for not setting this up properly and am being billed for wasting the pickup location companies time. I have yet to receive a return on my deposit. I will be sending the CANDIAN RELIABLE VANLINES an invoice for this disaster.

Great pick up, not so great drop off.

Everything went great leading up to my moving date. The drivers were a little late, but not a big deal. They took their time and were very careful and professional wrapping and packing my stuff. They loaded their truck carefully and I had no worries or issues. When the drop off came, the guys were very obviously rushing and in a hurry. Every item they said would not fit in the room we asked them to put it in and they insisted to just leave it in my garage. When they asked for payment, I saw credit card was accepted on the contract, so I paid with that. However, when I got the receipt they charged my credit card more than the invoice says. I was told that there was a 3% fee when paying with credit card. This was the first I heard of it, and I would've paid with cash, cheque, e-transfer if I was told. When I called the office, they apologized but said "it's *just* $17" so I shouldn't worry about it and didn't offer to make things right even though no one told me about these extra fees until after. I even asked Mark when I booked what would increase the price, and he made no mention of these fees. Further, in the move they somehow managed to rip buttons off my microwave. So it was *just* $17, plus my microwave. That being said, everything except the microwave was in good condition and overall it was a good move. I wouldn't encourage anyone to avoid Canadian Reliable but be aware of their fees.

Moved my 88 years old aunt from Brantford to Calgary. She was to sell her stuff and I booked our flight for Tuesday. On Saturday the person who was to pickup the stuff called and said he did not want to pay. As there were some beautiful paintings and real wood furniture we called Mark that afternoon and arranged a Monday pickup. The guys came Monday afternoon and we were not ready the stuff was not packed. They provided the boxes and help us with the packing. We were on the 3rd floor and had not booked the elevator. Back in Calgary they called to firmed the delivery and the address as we were not sure were my aunt would be. All the paintings and furniture arrived in good condition and nothing was missing. We did not have the time to check the list of items and called the office, they said to email them what was missing and they would check the warehouse. Excellent work Mark and the whole team. Wonderful work. thank you very much.

DO NOT use this company. They’re crooks.

Rude “moving consultants”, do not pickup or drop off when they say they will, speak to you like you’re an inconvenience when you call or email to inquire about your belongings. They charged me a week before my items arrived, without my authorization. (Items were ten days later than they told me they’d be, and no one could give me answers on my items’ transit status). Majority of my large furniture items are damaged. Used marker to write on bins and luggage and outdoor furniture.
Mark and Stephen are rude, and do not care about their clients. Once they take your money, they don’t care about anything else.

Extremely disappointed-will never, ever, use this company again, and will be sure to share this terrible review with anyone else who needs to move.

Do yourself a favour and use someone else.

We hired Canadian Reliable Vanlines to move us from Mississauga to Orillia and store our furniture for 3 weeks. The quote was $3,050 the total ended up at $4650. Our furniture
arrived in Orillia damaged and dirty. The truck had not been cleaned from the previous move and it looked like drywall dust that was all over everything.

The guys who delivered it told us they would only bring in the large pieces of furniture. The rest they threw in the garage. Our bar fridge, freezer etc was all classified by them as small. By the time they left we could not even get into the garage. Boxes were upside down, bins were broken open - what a mess.

The movers were very rude and rough. They gouged our walls going up the stairs and did hundreds of damage to them. They had no idea how to maneuver furniture around railings or bends in stairs.I ended up with broker - dishes, bed side table, dresser, sideboard, tv stand, front hall bench, wooden laundry hamper, etc.

They charged the entire amount to my credit card 20 days before my furniture was delivered. Totally unacceptable.

Do yourself a favour and use a different mover. I wish I had.
